For the past several years, I have been the Editor of the Journal of the Alabama Academy of Science (AAS) having served previously for many years as Editor for Electronic Media for AAS. I also have served many years as Chair of the Engineering and Computer Science section of the academy.
As part of my electronic media duties, I upgraded the look and feel for the AAS website: http://www.alabamaacademyofscience.org. I also implemented an online submission form for authors and presenters at our 2007 and 2008 annual meetings as well as online submission forms for committee and section chairs to submit yearly summary reports in advance of Fall and Spring Executive meetings.
All of the work has been completed using PHP with a MySQL database backend for recording submissions. I also transitioned AAS from check-based membership to online membership by implementing an online membership sign-up form with payment processing provided by PayPal.
